QUESTIONS?

Is this your first anthology series?
Yes. Basalt Sea Press is launching its inaugural anthology line in 2026. Each volume is curated with the same care and aesthetic as our Spiral Series and companion works.

What formats will the anthologies be published in?
A professionally designed digital edition is guaranteed. A print edition may follow depending on schedule, production capacity, and the final size of the collection.

Do contributors receive a copy?
Contributors receive a digital contributor copy of the finished anthology. If a print edition is released, discounted author copies will be available.

Why is there a submission fee?
The fee helps cover the cost of Duosoma submissions management, editorial time, layout, and production. We charge only what allows the press to sustainably build these collections.

What rights do you request?
First Worldwide Electronic Rights and Non-Exclusive Archival Rights. All other rights remain with the author, and you are free to republish your work after initial release.

Do you accept simultaneous submissions?
Yes. If your piece is accepted elsewhere, just withdraw it from consideration.

Do you accept reprints?
We strongly prefer unpublished work. Reprints may be considered on a case-by-case basis if rights have fully reverted to the author.

What genres or styles are you most interested in?
We look for mythic, land-rooted, atmospheric, or uncanny work; stories with emotional weight; and writing that feels connected to place, culture, ancestry, or memory. A strong sense of voice is more important than genre boundaries.

What is your response time?
We aim to respond within 3–6 weeks after the submission window closes.

How many pieces will you accept?
Final selection depends on the length of submissions and the balance of the anthology. Some volumes may be tighter, others more expansive.

Will I receive editorial feedback?
We cannot offer individual feedback on all submissions. Accepted pieces may go through a light editorial process to ensure clarity, rhythm, and consistency with the anthology’s tone.

What happens after acceptance?
You’ll receive an acceptance email, a brief rights agreement, and (if needed) a small round of edits. Final publication dates will be shared as production progresses.
